The scope also claims that “ this course focuses on incorporating data into investigative and explanatory journalism in order to tell the most accurate and complete story possible”. It´s true. For that, the data journalist also needs of new skills to execute your social function in the digital world. One them, he need to have computational thinking. Computational thinking is a concept elaborate by scientist Jeannette Wing. According to Wing, the computational thinking is taking an approach to solving problems, designing systems and understanding human behaviour that draws on concepts fundamental to computing. The data can also reveal some human behavior. The essence of computational thinking is abstraction, the computational thinking is a kind of analytical thinking that allows to elaborate Design Thinking, modeling journalistic products and services. The computational journalism is derived of Computational thinking. The computational journalism shelters the data journalism, thus, data journalism is a branch of computational journalism.
