At the USP
In 2013, I was approved for a postdoctoral project about Hiperlocal Information and Recommendation System in the Mechatronics Engineering Department at Polytechnic School of University of Sao Paulo. The Polytechnic School was classified among the 51-100 best Engineering Schools in the world, according to the 2012 QS World University Rankings.
The posdoc project aim to produce a system that allows to community to build social relevance content via the concept named hiperlocal. The geography space is important for involving the community in the production of information for the decision making. The hiperlocal concept is similar the civic journalism concept, but in this project, the systems will be structured from social machines, recommendation systems, and content aggregators in order of helping the users to construct your agenda setting.
At the UFABC
I´m also collaborator researcher for the Mathematical, Computation and Cognition department through the Post Graduate Program Neuroscience and Cognition at Universidade Federal do ABC (UFABC). The project is “News-value quantitative analysis using media datasets” (2013). The research aims to apply quantitative methods through retrieve, storage, and big data analysis, identifying the relationship between news-value and change of dataset in the light cultural evolution of geographic area where the dataset has social relation.
One fruit of this work with the Mathematical, Computation and Cognition department is the paper "Towards the analysis of novelty dynamics in news media coverage". In this paper we use the News Coverage Index dataset (NCI), maintained by the Pew Research Center, to analyze the novelty dynamics of news coverage, using the novelty signatures proposed by Tria et. al (2014) . As a definition of nov- elty, we used the first appearance of a new lead news maker. Results show a good fit of the model to the dataset. Furthermore, an analysis by media sector and broad topic shows interesting insights for the analysis of media coverage.
Neofluxo 2014 In 2014, If the objective was found the astroturfing, In 2014, the project Neofluxo has the objective of detecting the informative flux in the social networks, media websites and, political parties websites, in order to analyze the flux of economic information and who are the sources interested in spread, in presidential election period, a vision in accordance with the economic interests of big corporations. The project also have tecnological suport of the Mathematical, Computation and Cognition of UFABC.
